Holding Strong

We fabricate structural steel in the Northern Rivers for projects where failure isn’t an option. From building frames to platforms and support systems, we produce components that carry serious weight and meet strict compliance standards.  Everything we make is purpose-built, precision-cut, and engineered to hold strong under pressure.

All fabrication and assembly is handled in-house at our South Lismore workshop, with on-site options available for larger projects. We service clients across Lismore, Ballina, Casino, Kyogle and Byron Bay. Call us on (02) 6621 4800 to discuss your build, timeframe, and engineering requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about custom fabrication or compliance requirements? Here are the answers to some of the most common things people ask.

FAQ Icon
  • What defines structural steel compared to general steel?

Mild steel (also called carbon steel) is a general-purpose material used in fabrication, valued for its affordability, weldability and strength. Structural steel, on the other hand, is a certified product engineered for load-bearing applications. It’s manufactured to strict Australian Standards (like AS/NZS 3679 or 3678) with guaranteed mechanical properties, such as minimum yield and tensile strength. Structural steel is typically used for beams, columns and frameworks, where performance under stress and compliance with safety codes is critical.

  • How do I know if a steel product meets Australian standards?

Certified structural steel products are supplied with material test certificates (MTCs) and traceable documentation confirming compliance with Australian Standards. For example, hot-rolled structural sections must meet AS/NZS 3679.1, while plates must comply with AS/NZS 3678. These standards specify the chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional tolerances. Reputable fabricators and suppliers will only use compliant materials and can provide documentation on request. Non-certified products should not be used in structural applications, as they may not meet required safety and performance standards.

  • Can steel fabrication be done on-site for large projects?

Yes, steel fabrication can be done on-site when the size or logistics of the project demand it. For large structural frameworks or installations where transporting pre-fabricated components is impractical, on-site fabrication allows for direct fit-up, welding and assembly. However, it requires mobile equipment, a qualified crew and proper site preparation to ensure safe, efficient work. On-site fabrication is common in commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects where timelines are tight and large-scale elements need to be installed without delay.

When Strength Matters

Structural steel fabrication isn’t just about cutting and welding; it’s about building safe, reliable infrastructure that meets compliance codes and holds up under real-world load conditions. We work from certified drawings and use traceable, regulation-grade steel to ensure every beam, bracket and joint meets project specs. From pre-cut I-beams and angle iron to fully assembled components, we build it to fit and install it right. Our team handles everything from stair systems to heavy-duty truck body components. We stay focused on the details, so your structure stands solid from the ground up. Learn more today.
